Welcome! Currently I'm working toward a Master's degree in Writing Popular Fiction at Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA. I'm writing a mystery as my thesis writing project. Check out my progress at Seton Hill through my blog on LiveJournal. It's a great program, intense but well worth it. I just finished my second residency.
My first finished manuscript, a contemporary mystery, died a quiet death - trust me, it needed to be buried. I then spent three years on a mainstream historical - one day I'll revise because it has a lot of kick to it. I also tackled historical and contemporary romance. Last year I wrote a historical suspense and now I've circled back to mystery once more. In 1997, my first children's puzzle appeared in a children's magazine; more puzzles, a rebus, a short story, black and white illustrations and articles on writing followed in Jack & Jill, Turtle, Whimsy, Once Upon A Time and various RWA newsletters. I've produced three picture book dummies (with a separate binder for rejections) and am a member of SCBWI plus Sisters In Crime. My main love is novel length fiction. I'm hoping to combine art within the current mystery, besides working toward a career teaching the craft of writing at the community college level. One day.
As an artist, the Great Lakes region inspires me with its wonderful fresh water lakes, trees, rivers and lighthouses. My husband and I have driven along both the eastern and western coasts of Michigan's Lower Peninsula. Each lake has its own personality. Lake Huron is often green and choppy, quite different than Lake Michigan with its deep navy blue hue. Lake Superior truly has superior sunsets, and I love small towns like Copper Harbor, Lexington, Tawas, South Haven, Saugatuck and Frankfort. Point Betsie lighthouse is one of the prettiest, near Crystal Lake. I've seen Lake Erie when we visited Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, and Lake Ontario when I visited Toronto long ago and hope to return one day.
